For the New York Fashion Week (NYFW) Autumn/Winter 2017 shows, Aveda Artists have been busy backstage creating beautiful makeup and hair.



For the Hellessy Autumn/Winter 2017 show at Highline Studios, Tippi Shorter, Aveda Global Artistic Director, Textured Hair; and Janell Geason, Aveda Global Artistic Director, Makeup, teamed up for the full beauty look.

Tippi’s long, flowing ponytails and Janell’s naturally soft makeup perfectly complemented the Hellessy collection of whimsical dresses and designs.

Tippi used Aveda Shampure™ Dry Shampoo (with an aroma with 25 pure flower and plant essences including certified organic lavender, petitgrain and ylang ylang) to absorb excess oils and impurities and to achieve a soft style that swung beautifully on the runway.

#AvedaArtist Tip: “To achieve a more put together pony, take a small piece of hair from underneath the ponytail and wrap it around the elastic. Then pin in place. This technique conceals the elastic from view,” Tippi says.

For the makeup of the Hellessy woman, Aveda Artist Janell Geason, created natural beautiful contours using key products from the new Spring/Summer 2017 Limited Makeup collection Solstice Bloom (available February 12, 2017.)

To illuminate and contour cheekbones in a more natural-looking way, Janell used the new Aveda Petal Essence™ Face Accents in Seychelles Sand (infused with aromatic floral notes).

To give lips a warm, soft peachy pink color, Janell opted for the Aveda Nourish- Mint™ Smoothing Lip Color in Coral Sands (with a certified organic peppermint and vanilla aroma).
